Natural disasters and emergencies can wreak havoc in a person's life and devastate a community. While there isn't much we can do about them occurring, we can be more prepared.
Three Steps to Prepare for an Emergency
1. Make a Plan
Identify hazards in your area: For instance hazards in Missouri include tornadoes, floods, ice accumulation, severe wind events, wildfires, and lightning strikes.
Create a communication plan with your family and friends. It is recommended to have a long distance contact, if possible, in case the communication towers are down in your area.
Create an evacuation plan for your home and work.
2. Build an Emergency Kit
Make sure to have one gallon of water per person per day (including your pet).
Keep in mind your unique needs, such as, medicine and important documents.
Include non perishable food items, weather radio, flashlight and whistle.
3. Stay Informed
Find the best way to receive information of inclement weather or sudden emergencies.

Let's create a resilient community! Ready for any type of disaster.
